Every Thursday, Oceanside’s Main Street comes alive with Farmers and Sunset Markets. Open from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the Farmers Market’s many colorful stalls is an eye-catching sight. Tents on either side of the street are filled with farm-fresh veg, organic produce, and artisanal goods, among others. You can sample breads, delectable pastries, and selections from around the world. Fill your tummy with all sorts of familiar or exotic treats for breakfast or lunch. Cut flowers and potted plants and supplies are also sold. As are handmade items, arts and crafts, clothing, fashion accessories, and photographs by local artists. The Sunset Market No need to buy everything all at once – you can always get more at the Sunset Market, which opens at 5:00 p.m. and closes at 9:00 p.m. Bustling with life, the Sunset Market features food from every corner of the world, as well as American classics, gourmet eats, “exotic island specialties,” dishes from Latin America and the Asia-Pacific, and Mediterranean and Middle Eastern fare. To delight the other senses, the Sunset Market offers unique finds, including curios and handmade goods, as well as clothing. As you browse the market, listen to live bands perform at the Main Stage. You can also opt to grab a drink or two and enjoy the rest of the night grooving to the music. Street performers and artists fill the place with color and energy. Special events like Authors Night have also been organized to showcase Oceanside’s local writers, and there are fun activities during special holidays. Thursdays are definitely days to look forward to in this town. Don’t forget to bring your own reusable bag because vendors have turned away from paper and plastic bags in order to control the amount of waste generated by Oceanside.
